I have not been to Croatia and am considering it for a late Spring vacation but you all are reminding me how heavenly and incredibly gorgeous Greece is.
I would choose Greece if I were you. Send a private message to JustineA. Find More Posts by JustineA. Mar 20th, , Both lovely, and each has one of the two most beautiful places I've ever been - Dubrovink and Santorini.
You can't go wrong with either. Send a private message to littlejane. Find More Posts by littlejane. Apr 4th, , I have been to both And both beautiful countries to begin with.
But I definitely pick Greece. Greece is one of the or THE most beautiful country I have ever been to and you can ever go to. I have visited Greece by now 7 times and Greece never fails to amaze me!
Croatia is so much smaller in size, diversity, culture and history. Plitvic and Drubnovic are beautiful to see. Greece has much more of everything.
And much better food. And many religous sites as well that are so immensely beautiful such as Meteora incredible or Athos, life changing.
Greece also is one of the best if not the best Honeymoon Destination in the world. The Greek islands on itself are unrivaled and Islands like Santorini alone can compete with any place on the planet as the best honeymoon destination.

Apr 5th, , Yes, dulciusexasperis, I'm not surprised the OP never returned. Jgalvin was a first-time poster, and could have been shown a little more patience.
A "congratulations on your forthcoming marriage" wouldn't have hurt either. Fridge magnets, famous sites in snowballs, millions of colourful trinkets all made in China.
But at least the sandals at Monastiraki market are local. Considering Greece is such a strong tourism country, this may surprise you but when it comes to connectivity outside of large cities this round goes to Croatia hands down.
Well, take island Tinos for instance. It's large, beautiful, not so developed in terms of tourism since it is a pilgrimage site so priests are doing their job in keeping it a secret, but if you're not somewhere near a beach bar, in the centre of Chora or higher up in the villages on a hill, forget seeing any bars on your mobile phone.
Our large group of social media addicts had phones from all Greek providers, all with the same result - "no service". Most taverns and cafes will say they have WiFi but in all honesty, only one of them actually worked.
The place where I was staying, though stunning, extremely well organised, clean and well equipped, showed three different connection points free but not a single one worked.
So, Croatia it is. Sorry Croatia but this one goes to Greece. Though things are improving in Croatia and tourism workers are now joining the industry because they want to work in it and not because they have to, we are still not smiling as much as we should or taking that one extra step.
On the other hand, I was told by a woman with 30 years of experience as a tour guide in Athens, their standards are slipping rapidly.
So, maybe in a year or two, this will also be a tie. I have to say I am not a party goer, but since I am in the tourism industry, I have to follow events and trends.
Croatia is still in the lead here in terms of large festivals and big names. But Greece is catching up fast.
Only problem being that most big events are concentrated in Athens during the peak season, and given that the temperatures in the city go well over 35 degrees, these are not exactly ideal conditions for large outings.
Surprisingly enough, apart from organised group trips, resident nightclub DJs and sporadic guest appearances by some mid range DJs, Greek islands are not as big on festivals as one would expect.
And by infrastructure I mean roads. It's the middle of summer and roadworks on Greek highways are in full swing. Some of the new routes have opened just in time for the tourist season but they still have a long way to go to get close to the Croatian A1 highway.
Plus there are so many toll booths along the way you have to stop every 10 km and search for change. I even miss the occasional detour because of Bura.
Each destination has its advantages and disadvantages but Croatia has improved rapidly in terms of quality, especially when it comes to accommodation and large events.
Of course, everyone has their own opinion, and maybe I am a little subjective when it comes to Croatia, but a few more upgrades here and there and there and we will be able to rub shoulders with the biggest and the best destinations in the world.
Accommodation Even though accommodation is significantly cheaper in Greece, the quality varies depending on location, just like in any other countries.
English It looks like Croatians were listening in school, the level of English is light-years ahead compared to Greece. Ferries Greece is another country with a thousand islands just like Croatia ok, if we count all islets and rocks but their ferries are something we should look up to when it comes to frequency and island connections.
Prices and restaurants When it comes to food and wine prices, this round would have to go to Greece. An interesting read about Modric's career in he Croatia jersey.
Mario Madzukic could miss the game tonight with a hamstring strain too. Ivan Perisic, who is available and should be a difference-maker, said "The Greeks will certainly be defensive and try as hard as they can to keep a clean sheet, but we have enough up our sleeve up front in an effort to swing the tie our way here in Zagreb.
Croatia fans also caused issues at Euro and it was decided that no away fans will be at either game. It will probably take the edges off the atmosphere but surely a game with so much at stake will be 90 miles an hour from the off anyway.
The last stage of World Cup qualifying starts this weekend with the final names going into the play-off hat this weekend to decide the final line-up for Russia Croatia and Greece kick-off on Thursday November 8 at There will be no away fans in either stadium after the two football federations agreed it would be best to avoid any more trouble after riots in between the two sets of fans.
Having taken into consideration the risk factors and the security assessments, both football associations have made a joint decision not to sell any tickets to the away fans in either match.
Dejan Lovren is in contention for a start after recovering in time to come on as a sub for Liverpool against West Ham last weekend. The home side in the first leg were beaten in qualifying by Iceland, who continue in their rise up the international ranks, but Dalic will be happy with drawing Greece as they look for another route towards qualifying.
They lost to Turkey and Iceland as they slipped up in the group stages and drew with Finland too but they hope to put their relatively poor form to the side over minutes against the Greeks.
The Croats have a good blend of talent and it would be a travesty if they did not qualify but their failure to gel as a team and play with the necessary inspiration and intensity hurt them throughout qualifying.
Any team boasting the likes of Ivan Perisic, Mario Mandzukic, Marcelo Brozovic and Luka Modric would expect to be qualifying for almost every tournament and despite the turmoil that seems to follow this team around, they will hope to make it to Russia in and prove their worth in the World Cup.
Kostas Manolas is suspended for Greece manager Michael Skibbe but he has options with Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Sokratis possibly partnering up in the centre of defense while Petros Mantolas, the left-midfield man will also be missing on Thursday night due to a cruciate knee ligament injury.
Belgium walked their group in first place and with nine points to spare but Greece were the best of the rest with a victory against Gibraltar and a loss for Bosnia and Herzegovina against Belgium sealing second spot for them.
